He talks of Bernie Holibar of the Social Credit Party, the 1922 general elections, naming Glen Eden, school cadets, and the Depression. Roy recalls leaving school to find farm work. He mentions jobs in Matamata, Auckland and Whangarei. Roy describes working for Stevenson's (sewage and drainage) and recalls the experience of being buried in a shaft.
