He recalls his father carting bodies during the influenza epidemic and describes living in Waikumete (later known as Glen Eden). He recalls the neighbours and the Routley and Levy families. He mentions his father's carrier business, and recalls his mother milking cows and delivering milk in cans before school. Laurie describes starting his garage in the Depression; mentions petrol being delivered in tins. He recalls the war years. Laurie describes his father, his business, and serving on the Glen Eden Borough Council. Mentions being in the voluntary fire brigade. |
