| Description Summary | Arthur Berman talks about the history of his family in Europe and South Africa. He explains the Progressive Jewish movement in South Africa in the 1930's and his youth in the Jewish community. He describes the liberal political views of his family and conditions in South Africa during 1940s and 1950s. He recalls meeting his wife, his life as a young man in London, their marriage and their early life together. He recalls their move to New Zealand in 1978 and their involment with Beth Shalom and the development of the synagogue. |
