Historical Notes | Eldora Ice Cream was produced by the Takapuna Dairy Company Ltd. In 1909 Mr Israel Massey settled in Devonport and purchased a milk vending business. The Takapuna Dairy Co. was incorporated in 1913 and in the the 1920s expanded into the ice cream business. Eldora ice cream was made from an American recipe but was a corruption of the English brand name Eldorado. Tip Top purchased the ice cream business in 1964.
